Alex Fourtner is North Platte Community College’s October Business Student of the Month.
Fourtner is from Midfield, Texas. He graduated from Tidehaven High School in Elmaton, Texas in 2014 and NPCC in May with an associate’s degree in science. He is currently pursuing a certificate in accounting.
“I chose the NPCC because it is affordable,†Fourtner said. “He has everything I need to start my life and my career. The faculty is always ready to help in any way possible. They take longer to make sure I understand something and to answer any random questions I have. They make me feel like I’m supposed to be here.
He was nominated for the Student of the Month honor by his professor of accounting, Lynn Lupomech.
“Alex comes to class with a smile and a positive attitude,†Lupomech said. “He is in a good mood, motivated and curious. He demonstrates a thorough understanding of accounting principles and wishes to understand how the skills and concepts learned would apply in a business context. I appreciate his hard work and am optimistic about his academic / professional future.
Outside of his field of study, Fourtner enjoyed the art classes offered by the NPCC. He said he appreciates the fun and calming experience they give him.
His favorite memory at NPCC so far, however, has been walking across the stage to receive his diploma.
