MANILA, Philippines – The Pacquiao wing of the ruling political party PDP-Laban has denied claims by the other faction that a designated party treasurer has refused to account for ruling party funds.
PDP-Laban National Executive Director Ron Munsayac said in a statement that there was no truth to the “savage and baseless” allegations by the faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi who previously filed charges of theft against party treasurer Evan Rebadulla.
“They have again shown their propensity to commit lies and defamatory assaults against law-abiding citizens, a tactic which is with tyrannical tendencies totally contrary to the principles and objectives of the PDP Laban,” said Munsayac, who belongs to the faction led by Senator Manny Pacquiao, mentioned.
Such actions by the Cusi camp, Munsayac said, exude perjury and cyber-defamation, if not a “funny and ignorant attempt by a group that has no respect, knowledge and understanding of the law.”
On Friday, the faction led by Cusi revealed that Rebadulla, who was appointed by Senator Aquilino “Kiko” Pimentel III, allegedly refused to run for the ruling party funds he had managed as treasurer.
Munsayac said that “what is clear is that there is a clear admission by the rogue elements that they do not control the real PDP Laban Party”.
âThe leadership of the Party belongs to the real officers who continue to exercise administrative and executive control. They admitted that they are not authorized and have no custody of the Party’s true and official records and resources. They have no idea what and where the Party’s assets are, âhe said.
“Based solely on speculation and conjecture devoid of any proof, they are desperately trying to frighten and harass the real leaders of the Party. In doing so, they have committed perjury and cyber defamation,” he added.
According to Munsayac, the faction led by Cusi “is simply committing an illegal and hostile attempt to rob or hijack the Party and its resources for their own selfish and CORRUPTED ends”.
He said that the “real” PDP-Laban never authorized the filing of a case against Rebadulla, and that the PDP national committee officer, Reymar Mansilungan, who filed the case is not even a authorized party leader.
âAccording to official records, he (Mansilungan) is not even a Party member. Everything is in order in the archives of PDP Laban and in the right place. Evan Rebadulla did not commit any of the crimes alleged by dubious personalities, âMunsayac said.
“He surely has the right to file counter-charges against the plaintiff and his co-conspirators,” he added.
PDP-Laban has been split into two factions in an effort to support different candidates in the 2022 polls.
The faction led by Cusi has endorsed the tandem of Senator Bong Go and President Rodrigo Duterte as the standard bearer for the upcoming elections. Meanwhile, the other faction sees Pacquiao as a presidential candidate.
